Love Bo-Gi-Bots AM / FM Clock Radio Robot by Bandai Popy 1984 Japan. - Love Bo-Gi-Bots AM / FM Clock Radio "Perigee (MildGirl)" Robot and digital clock, a plastic 6" tall (15 cm) battery operated robot, is part of Bandai's vintage mid 1980s "Love Bo-Gi-Bots" series of robots. Bandai's parent company Popy is famous for their highly collectible mid 1970s line of Chogokin die-cast metal robot figures.
Bandai brought the series to the US in 1985 as the Love Bo-Gi-Bots. "Perigee (MildGirl)" became GI Bot and "Apogee (Mild Boy)" became BO Bot. Turn Love Bo-Gi-Bots eyes to change radio stations. A short history of Mildboy (and Mildgirl): Originally, Apogee and Perigee were characters in a Suntory Whiskey commercial in 1984. The popularity of the commercials spawned the toys Mildboy and Mildgirl, which were sold in Japan.

By the early 1980s metal gave way to plastic in the business of toy making, so Popy marketed new lines of collectible Chogokin robot figures under the Bandai brand.
