Bandai's parent company Popy is famous for their highly collectible mid 1970s line of Chogokin die-cast metal robot figures. By the early 1980s metal gave way to plastic in the business of toy making, so Popy marketed new lines of collectible Chogokin robot figures under the Bandai brand.
